Microsoft anti-virus, also known as System Center Endpoint Protection (SCEP) or Windows Defender, provides comprehensive virus and malware protection for Windows and Mac computers. Benefits include: Fast performance - Scans will not slow your computer down; On-the-fly updates - Automatically updates its virus definitions as often as needed. Use the following steps to download the image file containing the Endpoint Protection client software and documentation for Mac computers and Linux servers. Sign in to the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center. Select the Downloads and Keys tab at the top of the website. Filter on product System Center Endpoint Protection (current branch). Microsoft System Center Endpoint Protection (SCEP) is an antivirus/antimalware product for Windows environments that includes a Windows Firewall manager. SCEP (formerly called Forefront) is integrated into System Center, an enterprise system management product comprised of multiple modules that manages a Windows-based enterprise IT environment.
I did some sniffing on this, and both the Microsoft installation guide:
And this one:
do not include joining the Mac to the domain as part of the process, thus you can't manage it through SC.
Also found this on TechNet:

It states for the Endpoint Protection client for Macs, which I somewhat expected:
'These products cannot be managed from the Configuration Manager console. However, a System Center Operations Manager management pack is supplied with the installation files, which allows you to manage the client for Linux by using Operations Manager.'
Based on that, I'm not certain you can remotely manage this Mac's endpoint protection with SCOM. Curious to hear from others who may know more.
What I do know is that our Avast for Business client supports Macs and you can manage it remotely, schedule and push scans, see threat interceptions, etc. :) Shameless, I know, I know, but it very well might be a good solution for you in this case, especially if you have other Mac workstations/servers or plan to add more and need something to watch them all.
The Microsoft System Center Endpoint Protection (SCEP) is the current recommended Antivirus/Malware application for university-owned Windows based computers. University Owned Mac computers may install ESET.
Note: Retirees and alumni are not eligible to obtain Queen's licensed antivirus software.
