Microsoft Powerpoint Mac Fails To Launch

  • Dec 13, 2016  So I have to say, this looks like a bug to me on the latest PowerPoint 2016 for Mac (15.18 (160109), OS X 10.11.3, rMBP Mid 2012, NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024MB. A couple of other people in one of our company forums were kind enough to test, are hitting the same problem, so I think it is in PowerPoint, but that is a guess.
  • Try starting PowerPoint without add-ins to see if the problem goes away. Here’s how: Do one of the following: If you're running Windows 10, click the Start button in the lower-left corner of the screen. If you are running Windows 8, move your mouse to the upper right corner of your screen and select Search. If you are running Windows 7, click Start.

Resolution Step 1: Quit all applications and close all windows. On the Apple menu, click Force Quit. Step 2: Remove PowerPoint Preferences. Quit all Microsoft Office for Mac applications. Step 3: Perform a clean startup. If the problem continues to occur, go to the next step. Step 4: Create a new. To do that: Click the Start button. Note: If you're using Windows 7, just click Start Control Panel then you can skip to step 3, below. Type and choose 'Control Panel'. Choose Uninstall a Program and select the version of Office you want to remove. Click Uninstall. Restart your computer. For Outlook 2010, you can find this file in C: Program Files Microsoft Office Office 14 or C: Program Files (x86) Microsoft Office Office 14 Right-click the Outlook.exe file, choose Properties, and then choose the Compatibility tab.

Now in Office for Mac, you can open Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files saved in OpenDocument Format (.odt, .ods, .odp) and convert them to editable Microsoft OOXML files (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx ).

Catalina and microsoft office. Note: You'll need to be connected to the internet to open ODF files and convert them to OOXML files. For more info on the conversion process, see Why does the Microsoft online service need to convert some Office files?

Open an OpenDocument Format file in Office for Mac

  1. Select File > Open.

  2. Navigate to the location where your OpenDocument Format file is saved.

  3. Choose the file you want, and then select Open.

The first time you open an OpenDocument Format file, you'll see a notification asking your permission to convert the file using the Microsoft online service (this example is from PowerPoint):

To continue opening your file, select Allow.

For more information on the Microsoft online service conversion process, see Why does the Microsoft online service need to convert some Office files?

  4. After you've opened your file, you'll see a notification that tells you the file is read-only. To edit the file, click Save As to first save it as a Microsoft OOXML file. After you've opened the ODF file and saved it as an OOXML file, you can edit and save your changes.
